For my very first post I’d like to draw attention to the header image which is a piece by Greg Dunn. He is not a scientist but is an artist interested in Asian art, especially the intricacy of Japanese and Chinese script. He says he uses this passion to help him draw neurons which are similarly intricate in structure. His paintings remind me of early 20th century drawings of stained neurons by Camillo Golgi and Santiago Ramon y Cajal who were pioneers in the field of histological staining.
